Twitter what? Blogs for the win.

I'm resuming my training at here at Big Bear Lake for 3 days today. Probably going out for a solid 30-45 minute swim, or 20 minute run followed with some sprints. But the latter doesn't look likely. You see, I forgot my running shoes, let alone a pair of shoes at my friend's house when we were packing up. Now, I either got to run barefoot in the wretched terrain of Big Bear Lake and embarrass myself by breezing through the village in athletic apparel and flip flops. That process of "breaking in" your shoes is a tedious and time wasting.

Why Big Bear Lake in August?

There were two reasons I agreed to this. First, it was to get away from the suburban smog-clogged city of Monterey Park for a week. Second, Big Bear offered a high altitude for training. Working up here in general requires more red-blood cells than people in lower elevations because of the higher oxygen levels down low. So here, it forces your body to make the best out of every breathe of oxygen, thus your body creates more red blood cells. This is perhaps the most critical part of my summer training, but I can't but think if I'm wasting another summer pursuing a goal that wouldn't last in the long term. Aside from that, I'm working toward a new goal. 2010 Pan America Games. w00t. Enjoy the rest of your summer everyone.
