People are flocking away from Los Angeles. Literally.
We are most dangerous city in the country, and we have the highest sales tax. Skid Road is stuffed with homeless people and many middle-class city dwellers are forced to pay for Medi-cal and state and city funding. They are left with the burden of paying more taxes per capita than NYC, Atlanta, San Diego, etc.
Even the film industry is slowing shrinking in Los Angeles. Film directors and production companies are captivated by lucrative tax incentives that other major cities are offering to attract producers. No historic background or vintage would prevent someone from saving a chunk of change.
Yea, we see surrounding suburbs growing, but the city of Los Angeles is trying to survive. Even Monterey Park, a city where the average family income is below the poverty line, is about to bring in economic stimuli. Something is gotta give. We demand the best, so we have to offer the best.
