"I'm not out there sweating for three hours every day just to find out what it feels like to sweat."
~Michael Jordan.
For every reason to run, there was three others not to. You just have to find that one motivation to press onward away from whatever doubt you have. Some find hope within ourselves, while others discover the will onward within someone else. Some find love, while others discover pure isolation from the social world. Whatever it may be, just know that it better can withstand a snowstorm of negativity and criticism. If not, people will tear your dreams apart and throw those shredded pieces right back at you.
"My aggression out there is my weapon. I think it's more letting them know that I'm not going to let them get away with something, and I'm not not just going to kind of poke it back and be content to stay in rallies."
~Andy Roddick.
Catharsis is the greatest thing a person could ever do. You're like a central air conditioner. You ventilate frigid moist air on hot days, and pound stuffed hot air when it is inconceivably freezing. You just won't conform to what the world has to offer. When someone angers you, just put the machine on the fritz. However, if you control what kind of anger you have and how you express it, you turn your deadliest enemy into your worthy ally. Whether you hate "God" for not helping you, the world for not being more environmental friendly or some individual that screwed you over, you cannot let them get the best of you. Just turn it around and make things better for you.
I love to play golf, and that's my arena. And you can characterize it and describe it however you want, but I have a love and a passion for getting that ball in the hole and beating those guys."
~Tiger Woods.
If only I had Tiger's love and compassion. Is it something innate, or learned?
If children have the ability to ignore all odds and percentages, then maybe we can all learn from them. When you think about it, what other choice is there but to hope? We have two options, medically and emotionally; give up, or Fight Like Hell."
~Lance Armstrong
Amen, Mr. Armstrong. Watching a cancer survivor race against the best professionals in the world is tremendous; and to beat them on the Tour de France 7 times, it's mind blowing.
"You have to wonder at times what you're doing out there. Over the years, I've given myself a thousand reasons to keep running, but it always comes back to where it started. It comes down self-satisfaction and a sense of achievement."
~Steve Prefontaine
This sums up everything. =)
